What is PF and how to predict it
PF (Power Factor) is the power factor. It shows that it is currently consuming energy efficiently.
PF = 1 — resistive load (lamps, heaters)
PF < 1 — inductive or pulse loads (motors, power supplies, transformers)
Low PF means: with the same power consumption, the current in the circuit is higher than the assistant.
Example: with a power of 1500 W and PF = 0.7, the total power = 2143 VA.
For stable operation, a Variac SUNTEK of at least 3000 VA is required.
Example of load calculation
Load: 1600 W, voltage 250 V, PF = 0.72.
Total power: 1600/0.72 ≈ 2220 VA
